What could you do for DofE volunteering with Local families with bleeding disorders?

For my DofE volunteering, I chose to help Local families with bleeding disorders as my brother has haemophilia and we have been a part of the charity for a few years now. But what could you do if you were to also volunteer here?

One thing you could do is raise awareness of the charity and the different bleeding disorders its members can have. You could do this by creating a presentation for your school and holding an assembly or making posters, writing articles for a school/local newsletter or writing a blog. Or any other way you think you could spread awareness.

Another thing you could do is fund raise. There are lots of ways to do this in several different settings such as cakes sales; sponsored silence, runs, etc; ask supermarkets to pack bags for donations. With this option make sure you talk to the right people and get the proper permission to do this.

A third way you could spend your time volunteering is through support. You could help peers that are a part of the bleeding disorders community or perhaps sending cards or a letter to those who are struggling or give advice to parents or younger members of the community about how to get over obstacles that you have also faced (for example needle phobias in young children).

One last idea of what you could do is helping with the events - this could be creating name tags, volunteering to help or even organising the event.

I hope that this is useful to anyone who is looking to volunteer with LWFBD for their DofE.... good luck!
